Y‍OU CAN HELP ELIMINATE EMISSIONS TESTING

Fellow tax payer,

‍A bill to eliminate Emission Inspection testing was passed by the state Senate and has moved to the House, where it has traditionally failed. The emissions testing program is an obsolete and unneccessary expense that does very little to protect the environment. You can see my reasoning in this letter I sent to many members of the House Transportation Committee. We are asking for your support in contacting your Representative and asking him/her to support this important legislation.

What does it mean to you? NO MORE EMISSION INSPECTION. People pay thousands of dollars every year to stay compliant with this obsolete requirement. This disproportionately affects the lower income families more than anyone.

What can you do? You can send an email to your Representative asking them to support this legislation. You can also send a regular letter to them. Below is a sample text for you to use.

SAMPLE TEXT

Dear Representative,

I am writing to express my support for eliminating Pennsylvania’s vehicle emissions inspection program.

For many residents, especially working families and those with limited incomes, the program creates a significant financial burden. Vehicle owners are often required to spend large amounts of money repairing emissions-related equipment just to pass inspection, even when their vehicles are otherwise safe and dependable.

At the same time, the environmental benefits of the program appear limited. Modern vehicles are far cleaner and more efficient than those of past decades due to advances in engine technology, onboard diagnostics, fuel systems, and cleaner fuels. The increasing use of hybrid and electric vehicles also makes the current program increasingly outdated.

The emissions inspection requirement has become an unnecessary cost for taxpayers with little measurable benefit. Eliminating the program would reduce financial strain on Pennsylvania residents while reflecting today’s cleaner vehicle technology.

I respectfully urge you to support legislation ending the vehicle emissions inspection program.

Thank you for your time and consideration.‍ ‍

Sincerely,

[Your Name]
